The H-1B work visa
H-1B visas are reserved for individuals who hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) in the specific area of work. This is a temporary visa that allows professionals in a specialty occupation to remain in the United States for a specified amount of time. For many people, obtaining the H-1B visa is the first step in gaining permanent residency in the United States. Some examples of workers that use the H-1B visa include:
- Scientists
- Engineers
- Health care workers
- Accountants
- Advertising professionals
- Teachers
- IT / computer professionals
The spouse and any children (under the age of 21) of the individual with an H-1B visa are also allowed to come to the United States while the visa is valid. Our law firm can help you and your family with the application processes.
Although the H-1B visa is one of the most common employment-based visas, the application process can be complicated and lengthy. We will work with your employer, if necessary, to complete the application process.
