Arlington Amnesty Lawyer

Texas Immigration Amnesty Attorney

Representing in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and Mid Cities

It has been years since the United States implemented an amnesty program. However, today we are still feeling the effects of the 245(i) adjustment of status that was originally added to immigration law in 1994.

Due to the grandfathering provisions of 245(i), under some circumstances, the children of individuals who were granted amnesty may be eligible for adjustment of immigration status.

The History of 245(i)

Between 1994 and January 14, 1998, undocumented foreign nationals in the United States were allowed to seek permanent resident status (green card status ) through section 245(i). This was briefly reinstated from January 2001 to April 2001. While it is estimated that more than 12 million people living in the U.S. without authorization, at this time there is no new amnesty. However, we are watching proposed laws carefully.

During the time in which the law was active, people who entered the U.S. illegally, and those who overstayed their visas could qualify for adjustment of status.
