Elengamboka Mupanda's flight from Africa started with a picture. The graphic artist was making a comfortable living in 1995 when opponents of Zaire dictator Mobutu Sese Seko solicited his work. They wanted a logo that expressed a need for democracy. Mupanda's creation wasn't subtle. He symbolized that it was time for change by putting an arrow in favor of the opposition.
